今日は質問を英語で書くことに挑戦してみました ^^ 長くなってしまいましたが、よろしくお願いします。

In my English conversation class, we were doing self-introdustions one by one. I hate doing self-introdustion because my English is not good enough to do it and I also don't like to talk about myself to someone who is not so close to me, but even if I didn't want it, my turn was coming next. In the moment, somebody walked into the class, so I said to him "Now is your turn to introduce yourself. We are doing self-introdustions now.", and I succeeded to hold off my turn for a while. After he finished his self-introduction, my turn finally came. I still didn't want to talk about myself, so before I started, I said "I'm hoping somebody will show up again" and people laughed with it. Then after all, I had to do my self-introduction even just only a little bit.

Later, I wondered if the tense I used was appropriate or not. In the situation, which was better to use, "I'm hoping that somebody WILL SHOW UP again" or "I'm hoping that somebody IS SHOWING UP again" ?


"my turn was coming next" で "私の順番は次まで迫っていた" という意味になっているでしょうか？

"in the moment" で "まさにその時" という感じが出てますでしょうか？

上のシチュエーションで "succeeded" を使うのは大げさでしょうか？

"appropriate" は、上の文脈にあっている単語でしょうか？

それから、"will show up" と "is showing up" ではどっちが状況に合っている言い方でしょうか？

その他の悪いところも、全体的にダニエルさんに添削してもらえたら、いちばん勉強になります ^^

I assume you are doing this in front of the class, so it wouldn't be "talk about myself to someone".

この部分はダニエルさんへの質問だったのですが、、

自己紹介の順番が目前まで来ていた時、「今まさに また 誰かがドアを開けて入って来て欲しい」 という感情で発した言葉です

"I'm hoping that somebody WILL SHOW UP again" と、
"I'm hoping that somebody IS SHOWING UP again"

では、どっちがこのときの状況で使うのに相応しいでしょうか？

"今まさに" という感じを出すために、「IS SHOWING UP」の方がいいかなぁ と思っているのですが、ダニエルさんならどちらの時制を使いますか？ ^^

I should have corrected it before, but I would make that "I'm hoping that somebody [WOULD] SHOW UP again."

It's a hope, so it's only a possibility. E.g., "I wish it would rain" (that's actually a title of a song by the Motown group, the Temptations).

"Will" is used in a definitive statement, so you can't use that in a "hope".
